Biomechanics/Motor Control

The Biomechanics/Motor Control (BMC) Laboratory
Texas State University-San Marcos
The BMC Laboratory is located at Jowers 210 in the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department. This lab contains a fully functioning 2D Motion Analysis System, a Biodex Balance System, A Lordex Lumbar Machine and a Functional Anatomy Computer System. The BMC Laboratory is Directed by Dr. Robert Pankey, Professor.

The Lordex Machine features a Lordex Decompression Unit, Lordex Strength Restoration, and the therapist-assisted Lordex Stretch-Flex program. Lordex targets the lumbar muscles to reintroduce kinetic activity. The Lordex Decompression Unit then comfortably tractions the spinal joint, decompressing the disk and reducing pain while training.

The Biodex Balance System features a commercially-available computerized balance platform with both training and testing applications, including the Fall Risk test. The Fall Risk test identifies people at risk for falls by comparing their performance to normative data of healthy individuals by age group.
