Dr. Meaney joined the faculty in the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at Texas State University in the Fall of 2009. Previously, Dr. Meaney served as a faculty member at Texas Tech University and Associate Director of the Teaching, Learning, and Technology Center.  While at Texas Tech, Dr. Meaney developed and received federal funding to implement the FUN & FIT service-learning program. FUN & FIT provided economically and culturally relevant nutrition education and physical activity to overweight children from low income minority families.  Texas State’s commitment to community outreach and service-learning will enable her to continue service-learning research focused on combating childhood obesity. Dr. Meaney is a Fellow in the Research Consortium of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance and a recipient of the Lolas A. Halverson Young Investigator Award. Dr. Meaney instructs graduate and undergraduate courses in the area of physical education-teacher education. Her passion for and commitment to excellence in teaching has been recognized at the department, university, and national levels.
