
Texas State University-San Marcos invites parents to enroll their children in the
Teen Strength and Wellness Camp, a multi-week fitness day camp for ages 12-19.
Are health and beauty articles making your teen even more confused about how to stay fit? Does your child want to make the team next fall or stay in shape during the off-season? Whether your teen is an accomplished athlete or simply wants to start living a healthier, active lifestyle, the Teen Strength and Wellness Camp can help them achieve their goals.
Using the latest technology and esteem-building methods, a team of fitness and nutrition professionals will help teens:
• undergo health and fitness testing as well as body size and composition assessment
• understand sports nutrition through daily lessons and post-workout snacks
• optimize their athletic potential through diet and exercise
• use up-to-date, scientific-based training techniques
• begin the next school year with a competitive edge
The Teen Strength and Wellness Camp will help teens improve:
• agility
• balance
• body size and composition
• cardiovascular endurance
• coordination
• flexibility
• muscular endurance
• muscular strength
• nutritional knowledge
• power
• speed
Varied times and course lengths make attendance possible for even the busiest individual. Classes meet from 10 a.m. to noon and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, at Jowers Center in San Marcos. Teens choose one time slot and a three-, five- or eight-week session.
Three-week Session 1: June 10 – June 26, 2008
Five-week Session 2: July 8 – Aug. 7 2008
Eight-week Session 3: June 10 – Aug. 7, 2008
Register by May 15, 2008, to lock in early bird rates of $75 for Session 1, $125 for Session 2 or $200 for Session 3.
After May 15, rates are $90 for Session 1, $140 for Session 2 or $215 for Session 3.
A healthy, post-workout snack is included in the camp cost.
Participants should come dressed in workout shorts, T-shirts and tennis shoes.
Activities will take place indoors and out. Sunscreen, a name-labeled water bottle and a hand towel are recommended. Water fountains are available for refills.
Jowers Center is located on the Texas State University-San Marcos campus.
